We welcome Dirk Kempf into the SBN family.
From SAP Walldorf to the Norwegian Fjords - Reinventing Asset Management in the Nordics and beyond.
Dirk has a history with SBN and has now joined the Norwegian company Lighthouse.
Being an expert in Asset Management he has presented the latest SAP portfolio at SBN events, both in 2021 and 2023 and been av valued expert which we have been meeting in Walldorf at our annual March Walldorf Travels. To welcome him to SBN is the background for this interview.
In 2025 he decided to move on after working decades in SAP development, product management, and customer office. It was time to change roles and to help customers to excel with asset management. He chose Lighthouse in Norway, the top-notch innovation partner for SAP Intelligent Asset Management. Andreas Bauge and Simen Frivoll-Larsen had the same vision when they started Lighthouse in 2021. This is guiding the work Lighthouse does for their SAP customers and this fits nicely into the joint goals.
What are the driving factors you see for success in the area of Asset Management?
- First of all, Dirk says, is enablement. We at Lighthouse offer quick-start services to get underway fast and easy - for example with Proof of Concepts.
- Secondly, scaling as we develop tools to simplify the usage and to allow running at big scale. We complement SAP APM to allow visual navigation with drill downs - which everyone likes. Another example is IOT ingestion monitoring, which is essential for big installations.
- AI makes the difference, wich is last but not least !
“Let me give you an example of a customer solution which hit exactly the area I’m talking about with respect to simplification, scaling and AI", Dirk continues.
“This customer was hit by an overwhelming number of alerts from various sensors and monitoring systems, also including way too many false alarms! We managed to create a geo-based dashboard providing a clear view on all levels from the plant level and all the way down to single alert details.”
“On top of this, a brand new capability comes into play: The AI driven freeze detection analysis that continuously monitors the incoming alerts and proposes recommendations for example for the ideal ingestion granularity or threshold adjustments for the rules. This paves the way for sophisticated self-automation!”
Available in the SAP Store is the Asset Health Acceleration Suite offered by Lighthouse; additional solutions are in the pipeline.
