SAP’s S/4HANA Game – ERPsim a fun approach to S/4 discovery and learning

Whoever said that SAP are not innovative? Well where S/4HANA is concerned, they have now come up with an original, valuable, innovative game, which familiarises the participants with the possibilities and opportunities in S/4 HANA and what’s more, it’s fun!

Superficially, the S/4HANA game resembles that favourite of board games, Monopoly. There is a board with the same number of squares on each side, there are two sets of cards and the aim is to move around the board, taking appropriate actions depending on which square you land on. However, here we are talking about capabilities and business value of new innovations facilitated by S/4 HANA. There are different versions of the game based on lines of business, for example, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance and so on. The game requires a moderator as it is played as a competition between teams, with a minimum of three teams with four people in each team up to a maximum of ten teams. It simulates a business competition where the teams compete to achieve the best financial result.

There is an in person and a virtual version of the game although the virtual version is obviously more practical in these special times. It is suitable for new and existing customers to S/4HANA and SAP partners use it as a form of continuous learning. The main deliverables are an Innovation Map, which identifies S/4 HANA innovations relevant for a customer and their implementation roadmap and a Value Map – a high-level business case using an Excel based value calculator. You could say that this is SAP’s fun way of delivering the different lines of business results of the S/4HANA Adoption Starter programme.
