SAP SuccessFactors implemented at Kemp & Lauritzen

Kemp & Lauritzen is Denmark’s leading technical installation business, offering a wide range of installation solutions. These solutions span from complex, large-scale projects to smaller, multi-disciplinary tasks. It also deals with specific service agreements and the needs of specialist industries. With its 140-year history and 2,500 employees, the organization also has the ambition of being the best workplace in Denmark.


Kemp & Lauritzen’s foremost need when looking for a new HR system was to secure a single system that could manage and display all employee data while allowing for employee and manager self-service. Kemp & Lauritzen hires around 500-700 employees annually, many of whom are hired through networks. With a short window from candidate selection to the first day of work, it has to be possible to onboard quickly.

Another crucial business requirement (as well as a condition of Kemp & Lauritzen’s license-to-operate) is the documentation of certificates and skills. It additionally faces an industry-typical high turnover rate (28.9%) and consequently needs to be able to handle offboarding smoothly and efficiently.


Through Effective People’s implementation of key SAP SuccessFactors solutions, Kemp & Lauritzen has gained new HR insights that are helping improve its entire HR setup, with a focus on its recruiting and onboarding processes in particular.

Effective People implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, Time Management, and Recruiting, as well as its own custom fast-hire app, Ragnar. Ragnar helps Kemp & Lauritzen address the needs of on-site hiring managers, providing them with a smooth, quick-hire process wherever they are—as highlighted by SAP itself on its Danish language blog.

Further components included in the implementation are SAP SuccessFactors Learning and Onboarding, as well as SAP-compatible implementations of the Qualtrics employee experience management suite and Huris document management system.

These implementations allowed Kemp & Lauritzen to have one unified core HR data template for its entire organization. Throughout this process, Effective People used its proven methodologies for rapid deployment and implementation, as well as its pre-configured Base Model Approach.


Going into the project, Kemp & Lauritzen had four success criteria by which it would measure post-go-live performance. These were employee turnover, onboarding process satisfaction among new employees, HR process satisfaction among leaders, and the number of active users in its HR portal. As a result of Effective People’s implementation:

  • The goal of reducing the overall employee turnover rate from 35% to 28% was met and even decreased.
  • Voluntary turnover dropped from 18% to 12%
  • Employee onboarding process satisfaction is now at a healthy 4.0 (scale 1-5)
  • Manager HR process satisfaction is now also 4.0 (scale 1-5)
  • 80% of K&L's workforce accesses the HR portal, even though blue-collar/deskless workers make up the majority (80%) of their workforce

During the first week of its cloud HR service, Kemp & Lauritzen pushed the SuccessFactors app to 1,159 iPhones and 718 Android phones. 842 employees logged on within the first week, and the first fast-hire recruitment was completed within the first hour after go-live, without additional support.
