Fighting climate change, resource depletion and plastics pollution is rapidly moving up on the business agenda. The motivation of industry leaders goes beyond a heartfelt obligation to leave a livable planet to their children and grandchildren.

 

Join this session to learn more about how enterprise software and new digital technologies can be leveraged to create intelligent enterprises while delivering sustainability benefits. We will discuss how digitization can help to shape business transformation in a responsible way by providing tools, insights and solutions to connect global value chains, create transparency and accountability, measure and reduce carbon emissions, eliminate waste, maximize resource productivity and innovate new processes and business models.

 

One area of focus will be SAP’s circular economy program and its Plastics Cloud. Another focus will be on Climate 21, a program SAP launched to build analytical and transactional capabilities into our enterprise applications that can help our customers understand and minimize the greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint of their products and operations along their value chains.

Together, we will to explore how technology can be harnessed to drive the transition towards a more circular, low-carbon and inclusive economy.

SAP plans to be carbon neutral by 2025 and is part of the Science Based Target Initiative to limit global warming by the end of the century to 1.5 degrees. As a Global Environmental Manager, Marcus Wagner is responsible for all environmental sustainability initiatives worldwide. After university in computer science and a few years at IBM and Lufthansa, Marcus Wagner started working for SAP as a software engineer and consultant in the mid-nineties. Prior to his move to the global sustainability team, Marcus Wagner held several business development and senior management positions within the SAP consulting organization.

Jim is responsible for ensuring SAP’s vision to ‘help the world run better and improve people’s lives’ empowers our customers to solve some of the world’s biggest economic, environmental and societal issues via SAP’s collaborative network and technology solutions. Prior to joining SAP, Jim was part of the executive management team at Clear Standards where he was responsible for strategy and advisory services.

Formerly Director and acting Branch Chief at US EPA, Jim is an internationally recognized expert on policies and measures to combat climate change. Prior to his service at EPA, Jim worked at Skadden, Arps as an environmental client specialist.

Jim is an avid backcountry skier and musician with multiple albums to his credit.

Jim holds a M.Sc. from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. from Brown University.

Toby started his career 21 years ago in the Oil & Gas industry and joined SAP in 2016. Prior to SAP he worked for various Energy & Natural Resource companies in strategic and operational leadership roles related to climate, environment and sustainability across several functional and business areas

Sabine Otholt leads the global Strategic Customer Engagement team at SAP SE. In this role, she establishes and drives the Customer Innovation Program. Together with thought leaders she and her team define game changing products with innovative and future-oriented technologies.

Throughout her career she has held several positions at SAP. Earlier she started the Strategic Customer Engagement program for S/4HANA she run the Finance Customer Co-Innovation Office at the Innovation Center Potsdam. She was the global account director of BMW, responsible for the worldwide strategy and operational key account management. Earlier Sabine has worked as a consulting manager for financials in south Germany for several years, leading and managing a financial team of consultants. In this position, she was also accountable for acquisition, managing and coaching new customers and projects. She has been working for SAP since 1990.
