The demand for innovation and development in combination with stability is a focus area for SAP.  In several presentations the last years, Executives from SAP, have shared insights in the difficulty to innovate in combination with a daily business. They do understand customers need a stable environment for the day to day business. They are aware the best way to ensure an environment is stable and solid is to leave it untouched and unchanged and this hampers innovation.

Stable thechnology platforms is not my area of expertise but I understand much effort is spent by SAP to help customers with this dilemma. There are solutions to support innovation in combination with stability. The SAP Cloud Platform is a central part of this offering.

SAP at Sapphire announced the SAP C/4HANA Foundation, which enables system administrators and developers to implement cloud solutions from SAP. Interesting is the SAP C/4HANA Foundation is automatically deployed free of charge to all customers of SAP C/4HANA. Read more. See our SBN webinar 2019-05-24

Announced was also a plans for Enterprise-Grade Customer Data Platform. This platform will build the foundational services from the SAP Customer Data Cloud and SAP Marketing Cloud portfolios. The customer data platform will provide core capabilities that unify first-party customer data from online and offline sources in a centralized repository and connect SAP and non-SAP applications real-time.

Innovation is not only the technology it also the Business Case and Return of investment calculation. These have to give a positive result for a development to become a reality. This is why SAP is introducing the Digital Access Adoption Program (DAAP). With the new program, customers can make the decision to move to the Digital Access licensing model with transparency and total confidence and SAP expects that for many customers a conversion to the new licensing program will largely come at little to no net new costs.

The article above is the third article in my series of articles of summaries and insights of SAP's strategies based on a shift I see in the message from SAP. It is my personal observations, summaries and insights of SAP's strategies based on a shift I see in the message from SAP.
