Warning about IFRS 18 to SBN members who keep accounts according to IFRS

New accounting standard IFRS 18 is more comprehensive and more complicated than many have understood. Effective from 2027, this means you must have comparable figures already from 2026. No time to lose.

11 SAP customer companies in addition to Statkraft participated last week in a session during SBN2025 on IFRS 18. Almost all of them confirmed after the discussion that they were not aware of how extensive IFRS 18 is, much more than other such changes in accounting practices according to the IFRS standard and also much more complicated than one would think. It was good that KPMG had an excellent explanation of the content of IFRS 18 and also about how and why this is actually an ever-so-small transformation journey with implications for both processes and systems. In its presentation, Statkraft talked about its journey so far and what and how they have attacked systems and practices in order to be able to operationalize the standard for their own business. Many relevant tips here for SAP customers. This was also to be gleaned from the presentation by Frode Sleveland from SAP, who discusses what opportunities and possible roadmap SAP offers in connection with this change.
On this link you will find the presentations from this session.
